Proposed Updates to Our PTO By-Laws

Important Notice:

We are excited to announce proposed updates to our PTO by-laws. These changes are designed to enhance our flexibility and effectiveness in serving our school community. Before we finalize these changes, we invite all members of our community to review and provide feedback.

The proposed by-laws will be up for a vote at the upcoming General Assembly Meeting on May 7th.

Reasons for the Changes:

The main purpose of these updates is to allow our executive board greater flexibility in managing our resources according to the school's needs and the availability of volunteers. Key changes include:

  1. Rearrangement of Standing Committees: The updated by-laws will allow the executive board to rearrange standing committees as necessary throughout the school year. This change aims to optimize our volunteer resources and adapt to the seasonal needs of the school.
  2. Dissolution of Standing Committees: While our current by-laws permit the creation of new standing committees, they do not address the dissolution of existing committees. The proposed changes will include provisions for dissolving standing committees when they are no longer needed.
  3. Temporary Committees: We are introducing the ability to form temporary committees that will operate for one year. These committees can be formed as needed and will be  subject to a vote each time they are proposed.

Your Participation:

Your input is valuable to us!  Please review the proposed by-law changes on the PTO Website (www.nolensvillepto.membershiptoolkit.com). We encourage you to attend the General Assembly meeting to participate in the discussion and vote.

Let’s work together to make our PTO even more effective in supporting our school and our children.
